This project was funded on 02 Dec 2019!

There'll be traditional entertainment of all sorts to bring the whole community together and see the improvements happening in the town, especially in Market Place. Lots of entertainers with fun things for you and the kids - and others where you can just sit back, watch, listen and enjoy. Community groups have the opportunity to showcase their skills and activities to a wider audience and there'll be creative opportunities for the kids to enable them to participate on the day with their very own Lantern Parade. A craft fair and with lots of people in town, there'll be business opportunities for local traders, restuarants and cafes as well as street food and drink to celebrate Dewsbury's unique mix of cuisine.

What we'll deliver:

  • A traditional Christmas Lights Switch On event.
  • Family entertainment
  • Lantern Parade
  • An opportunity for you or your community group to get involved
  • Craft Fair
  • Business opportunities for local traders
  • Fun!

Why it's a great idea:

Right now there is even less money than ever to fund community events like this. Which is why this year its community led - providing a great opportunity to show what Dewsbury people can really do. And we need your support. Put bluntly - we need your pledge.. Many pledges make Christmas Lights work! It's important that we all step up for this one in order to get Dewsbury Christmas Lights firmly established. We're pushing all the buttons to raise money from every possible source - but this crowdfunding campaign is where it all ends up. So if we are short of the target then we really are short and could get nothing at all, Make a success of this year and we can do it bigger and better next year. WHAT TO DO? Like us! Share us with your friends! But most of all, we need YOUR PLEDGE to contribute.

Steps to get it done:

  • Assemble volunteer team, concept & outline budget
  • Develop performance programme
  • Develop community engagement programme
  • Develop crowdfunding campaign
  • Confirm licencing, risk assessments, security issues
  • Integrate community engagement with entertainment programme
  • Persuade absolutely everyone to pledge their support
  • Deliver!
