Harris Quarter mural art - transforming blank walls with murals celebrating our city's rich history and culture.
Shawn Sharpe needs your help to create another stunning landmark mural for Preston. The mural will be located on Tithebarn St, opposite the Bus Station. The mural aims to transform the huge grey wall into a colourful masterpiece. The Harris quarter is currently going through development with the Harris Museum, Youth Zone and Animate. This mural will provide another reason to visit the area and celebrate our history. The mural will directly support our growing culture and inspire the next generation of creators. The project isn't just about mural art; Murals will revitalise our city, create tourism and boost local businesses. Most importantly, put pride in our city centre. You can see a rough blurred-out version of the mural in the gallery. I can’t give away too much of the plan.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Community Pride: The mural will serve as a point of pride for residents, fostering a sense of belonging and identity within the community. Tourism and Economic Impact: A visually striking mural can attract tourists and visitors to the area, potentially boosting local businesses. Cultural Enrichment: Murals can be a form of public art that enriches the cultural landscape of a community. By celebrating Preston through art, the mural can contribute to the cultural identity of the area and serve as a conversation starter about the city's heritage. Revitalization of Public Spaces: Murals have the power to transform otherwise mundane or neglected spaces into vibrant works of art. Community Engagement and Involvement: The process of creating a mural, from planning to execution, can involve local artists, volunteers, and community members. This collaborative effort can foster a sense of unity and collaboration within the community.
