Pop-Up Craft/Cafe is a combined maker space and coffee shop, designed and built in a modular system that allows the Craft Cafe to be moved and reconfigured for use in various site and situations.
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
Pop-Up Craft/Cafe is a concept that lends its self to the ever-changing landscape of the UK's towns and cities. Being piloted in northwest London, the Craft/Cafe will be sited in vacant high st shop fronts and commercial buildings. The modular system would be completely self contained allowing for minimal installations into the properties that it is design for. This means that the only necessary works would be connection of potable water, wastewater and electrical utilities, along side simple aesthetic and decorative works for the duration of its stay.
The Craft/Cafe would serve refreshments like a normal cafe, but also house basic kit for modern crafts like, 3D printing and laser cutter and play host to various events. These would range from Restart parties fixing electrical products to introductory courses on the uses of 3D printing and micro-controllers.
When the short term occupancy of the stay was over the Craft/Cafe would simply be rolled out and moved to the next venue.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Pop-Up Craft/Cafe is a great idea because it provides a means to utilize vacant spaces on our High Streets on a temporary basis but allows for a permanent solution that can be reused and reapplied to successive spaces over and over again.
The Shop from threshold serves as a great way to engage people young and old with productive learning experiences. Pop-Up Craft/Cafe is the perfect way to maximize the impact of this type of outreach projects in the ideal setting of the High Street.
Pop-up Craft/Cafe can be transposed to almost any setting. it can be installed easily at lager events like the Big Bang at the NEC or even local market days. Bringing with it the skills and know how along side quality Teas and Coffees.
