We have been part funded for this project and are looking for match funding we are seeking to go around West Oxfordshire faith groups , Social Services, Police and Local Authorities to train them on the role of culture as it would affect the responses of the ethnic minorities who are victims of domestic violence .
The police often struggled with why these sufferes dont follow through with their statements of call for help, the social services often take children away from these homes without knowing that the women are victims of domestic violence. The faith leaders dont know how to deal with these victims as unconsiously their places of worship is used as beehive of this abuse and some of these abusers take advantage of the ignorance of the faith leaders. This training will educate these groups in how to perform their roles well within these groups there by creating an ecumenical community and more culutral awareness about domestic abuse
What we'll deliver:
- Cultural Training on the role of culture as it affects their work
- Creating cultural awareness to equip their work
- Creating the knowledge of the role of faith and culture as it affects DV sufferers within the Bame communities
Why it's a great idea:
1) The Local Authorities will be equipped in dispersing their jobs when dealing with the ethnic minorities who are victims of domestic violence
2) The social services would be equipped so that they are not committing injustice or racism in taking the children away from these women so that they can understand and have the knowledge through these training that these women are suffering domestic abuse that way the children and the women would get the right support.
3 The faith leaders will be equipped in how to deal with abusers in their congregants from this community and help these women better
Steps to get it done:
